Microsoft purchases Nokia’s device and service devision

Yesterday (2nd September 2013) Microsoft and Nokia announced a long expected acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services Unit with some access to Nokia’s mapping service and patents thrown in for good measure. The total acquisition price stands at some EUR 5.44 billion making it a sizeable investment from the software giant. Ultimately this move will allow Microsoft to unite its Windows 8 Phone software with it’s main hardware partner Nokia with an aim of offering a more complete end-to-end user experience similar to big industry player Apple inc. After 5 months of ghost calls happening on our VOIP system and being passed from pillar to post with a lot of misinformation, I stumbled upon a DeskPhone webpage trying to figure out what we can do to stop the constant phone ringing. A little chat window popped up and asked if they could help. Luke was his name and he saved me from throwing all of our handsets out of the window and going down the pub at 10.30am. So Luke, you've solved our problem, and also potentially meant I kept my job as I don't think my boss would have been too happy with me smashing our phones and then going for a few pints.
